The Ghana Photonics and Optics Laboratory (GPOL) in the Department of Physics at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) invites students, researchers, and technology enthusiasts to a colloquium on Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs), exploring their design principles and growing impact on data centers and medical applications.
This colloquium, under the topic Photonic Integrated Circuits - from Data Centers to Medical Applications, will be delivered by Dr. Fabian Ruf, an Integrated Optics and Photonics Designer at ZEISS and a Germany OPTICA ambassador. The talk will provide a focused overview of how PICs are designed, fabricated, and deployed to address real-world technological challenges.
This talk is particularly relevant to students and researchers in physics, photonics, electrical engineering, materials science, and related fields, as well as anyone interested in emerging technologies that bridge fundamental science and industrial innovation.
Participants will gain deep insight into current industry practices, application-driven design approaches, and the broader technological significance of integrated photonics in today’s world.
